On May 2-4th, Rwanda hosted the 37th Global Fund Board meeting, the first time to take place in Rwanda and bringing together board members and partners from across the world.

 The meeting  provided a platform for Global Fund to learn more about Rwanda’s innovative approaches towards community health and the motivation of community health workers.

In addition to the meeting,, The Board   took the opportunity to visit Rwandan partners and beneficiaries of Global Fund.

RRP+ was honored to be one of the organizations with the opportunity to show the results of the support provided by the Global Fund in contributing to the prevention of HIV and improve the hope and quality of life of person’s, families, and communities affected by HIV in Rwanda. The delegates  visited the Health Center of Gikondo (Kigali) where RRP+ coordinates  Peer Educators to strengthen the linkage between health centers and communities.

Delegates also visited other Health Centers and association members of RRP+ in districts throughout  the city of Kigali, in order to see their activities and the impact of Global Fund support on the welfare and health of the Rwandan community.

During these visits,  members of RRP+ openly testified how the funds from  Global Fund have changed a lot in their life economically, psychologically and in  terms of improved health. RRP+ members mentioned  that they are able to access free medications due to the support of Global Fund, and the importance of Global Fund’s support for small income generating projects has grown their hope of living in better conditions.
